Come for a visit to see our new display, Troy: In Archaeology, Literature and Art

Troy: Myth and Reality at the British Museum may be closing at the end of this week, but we are continuing the theme here at the library. Come for a visit to see our new display, Troy: In Archaeology, Literature and Art ! Before the time of Schliemann, there was much debate on the location, and indeed the very existence of the real city of Troy. A selection of the antiquarian books from our collections tells this story, using material from Robert Wood, Jacob Bryant, Jean-Baptiste Lechevalier, and Schliemann himself. The enduring legacy of the Troy myth, from engravings after Fuseli to the poetry of Seferis and Cavafy, brings us up to the modern period.
